What is a mala? Mala is a Sanskrit word meaning "garland". It is a beaded necklace consisting of 108 beads, a guru bead, and a tassel. Malas are traditionally used in meditation for a practice called "japa" meditation or mantra meditation. The practice of japa meditation can be helpful in calming the body, focusing the mind, relieving stress, and improving mood.
Whether you intend to use your mala for meditation, wear it for its beauty, or enjoy feeling the physical reminder of your intentions malas are a fun addition to any yogis' toolbox and wardrobe. Malas made by Jo are available to purchase, click here.
